English Translation:

"Chew Fang Chin delves deeply into both Eastern and Western painting traditions, mastering techniques with finesse. He cultivates relationships with predecessors in the domestic art scene, primarily in Taiwan, notably apprenticing under the esteemed Sun Yunsheng (孙云生) and specializing in the splashed-ink landscapes of Chinese painting, thus making Chew a significant disciple in the lineage of the great master Zhang Daqian (张大千).

His scroll paintings "Solitude in Cloudy Mountains" and "Solitude in Pine Forests" from 1977 are imbued with vast expanses of clouds and smoke, exuding a majestic aura. For younger generations of art students, his dedication and early initiation into the art form are evident.

Observing his portrayal of Chinese landscapes through the Western technique of cubism overlapping planes and segmentations, one is struck by the vibrant yet elegant palette, the forceful brushwork, and the rich blending employed to express aesthetic beauty. Within the grandeur lies a subtle softness, inviting viewers to delve deeper into the layers of meaning within the artwork. It seems as though he has emerged from the confines of traditional Chinese painting, bringing forth a fresh perspective, and opening up new realms of artistic expression within the realm of ink and brush."
